Digital literacy is defined by google as: “the ability to find, evaluate, utilize, share, and create content using information technologies and the Internet.” Digital literacy is often times thought to as being able to read and write. However the video claimed it to be more than this. Digital literacy is the way communication and gathering of information has come to be and how it is used in today’s time. Communication has changed majorly due to popularization of devices such as laptops and phones. In this project, we examined the MacBook’s by apple. This is a wonderful example of digital literacy for several reasons.
Since digital literacy is mainly concerned with retrieving information on computers and using the internet, MacBook’s are a perfect match. In modern times these ideas have become more prevalent. I say this because today’s world is consumed in these technologies. Social Medias are just one example of digital literacy found from computers. Since MacBook’s sole purpose is to be a technology that revolves around internet, it properly matches the criteria defined in digital literacy. Another reason digital literacy is involved is because of the information it provides. Being able to quickly access the internet via MacBook’s speedy design is enabling the key concepts of digital literacy. We have this power in our hands to use properly or abuse it.
Critically thinking the apple’s sleek design makes it appealing to almost all audiences. The thin and organized layout makes it convenient and accessible. Critical thinking is concerned with thinking logically about something. Any critical cognition will leads toward the purchasing of these computers.
